OnePlus to Unveil the World’s First Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-Powered Smartphone: Could be the Next OnePlus Ace 6

The Chinese consumer electronics maker – OnePlus has announced that it will be unveiling the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-powered smartphone and it is possible that this upcoming device could be the successor to December 2024-released OnePlus Ace 5. In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will sit below Qualcomm’s recently-announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship chip.

Here’s more about the update.

OnePlus Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-Powered Smartphone Also Coming Soon

In addition to the OnePlus 15 flagship smartphone which will be using the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship chip, OnePlus has also announced that it will be bringing another smartphone device which will come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip onboard. When compared with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5’s performance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip is pointed out to sit below the newly-introduced flagship chip of Qualcomm, however it is also claimed to outperform the 2023-released Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.

As per what can be understood, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will likely be the successor to the previous Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip as at the recently-held Snapdragon Summit, the brand had shared its plan to discontinue its 8s series and replace it with the standard 8 Gen series. Also to note, while the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will be the top-tier chipset offered for premium flagship smartphones, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is believed to be for the less powerful flagships or sub-flagship devices.

Speaking more, OnePlus will be releasing the very first smartphone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, and this is said to be the upcoming OnePlus Ace 6 smartphone (not yet confirmed*). Later, this same device is reportedly going to hit global markets as well, re-branded as the OnePlus 15R.

Stay tuned for more updates.
