Jolla Phone Featuring Sailfish OS 5, Physical Privacy Switch, Replaceable Battery, and More Announced for European Customers: Pre-Order Now Live
The Finnish tech brand – Jolla has now officially announced the launch of Europe’s very first independent smartphone running on the Sailfish OS 5. Its pre-order is currently live in the European market, and the latest device will be bringing many other exciting features apart from the native operating system.

Jolla Phone – Pre-Order Now Live in the European Market
As mentioned, the Jolla Phone has the Sailfish OS 5 pre-installed on it, and this operating system is built over the ashes of Nokia’s MeeGo operating system by former Nokia engineers. The Sailfish OS was brought out initially as an alternative to American-made operating systems like iOS and Android, and its goal has been to offer privacy, security, and a feeling of owning it (rather than renting). While the tech world has already seen many operating systems like Symbian, Firefox OS, Windows Phone, as well as MeeGo failing, the Sailfish OS has managed to survive for the past 12 years thanks to the support from community, and the latest Sailfish OS 5-running smartphone – the Jolla Phone has now been announced in the European market for European customers (in EU, UK, Norway, and Switzerland) as the successor to the 2013 original Jolla Phone.
The newly-announced Jolla Phone is an independent Linux phone, and it is a 5G network supported device (dual nano SIM) that is powered by MediaTek’s processor (moniker unspecified*). In terms of storage, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM is given on the device, and it also supports a MicroSD card slot (microSDXC). A 6.36″ AMOLED display screen is given on it, with a 20:9 aspect ratio, FHD resolution, ~390PPI pixel density, and Gorilla Glass protection. 50MP (main) + 13MP (ultra-wide) dual rear cameras, front-facing wide-angle camera, and a user-replaceable removable 5500mAh battery are more of its notable specs.
Other specs include the side-mounted fingerprint scanner, user-changeable back cover, physical privacy switch, RGB LED indicator, Android app support (no Google Play Services), WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a size of 158 x 74 x 9 mm. The brand also brings a Scandinavian styling on the device, and it will be made available in three Nordic nature inspired colors of Snow White, Kaamos Black, and The Orange.
About the pre-order details, the Jolla Phone can be pre-ordered at EUR 99 (Full Price – EUR 499; Normal Price – EUR 599 ~ EUR 699*), and this EUR 99 is refundable or fully-deductible from the full price. A special edition back cover will also be offered to customers pre-ordering the device. Its estimated delivery time is expected by the end of H1 2026.
