Honor Magic V5 launched globally with 7.95-inch foldable OLED inner display, Snapdragon 8 Elite, 5820 mAh battery, and More

HONOR launched the Magic V5 first in its home country, China, in July, and is now bringing it to global markets. The specs and features are the same as those of the Chinese variant. While in China it came with three memory options, globally HONOR has released it in a single memory option of 16GB + 512GB.

Honor Magic V5 Specs and Features

It features a 7.95-inch foldable OLED inner display with a resolution of 2352 × 2172 pixels, and a 6.43-inch OLED external screen with a resolution of 2376 × 1060 pixels. The inner display offers a peak HDR brightness of 5000 nits and a global peak of 1300 nits, while the outer display reaches up to 1800 nits. Both screens support 1.07 billion colours and eye protection features such as AI Defocus Display, 4320Hz PWM Flicker-Free Dimming, Dynamic Dimming, Circadian Night Display, and Nature Tone Display. The inner display is protected by HONOR’s Super Armored Inner Screen, while the outer screen uses an Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield. It also comes with Gesture controls.

Under the hood is Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, with two Prime cores clocked at 4.32GHz and six Performance cores at 3.53GHz, coupled with the Adreno 830 GPU. The device runs on MagicOS 9.0.1 based on Android 15. It comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

On the rear, the Magic V5 houses a triple camera setup, a 50MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.0 aperture, a 50MP wide camera with f/1.6 aperture and optical image stabilisation (OIS), and a 64MP telephoto lens with f/2.5 aperture and OIS. It supports 3x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom, with a maximum photo resolution of 9216 × 6912 pixels and video recording up to 4K. Rear camera modes include AI Motion Sensing Capture, Night Shot, Super Macro, Pro Mode, Light Painting, Multi-Video, HDR, and more. On the front, both the interior and exterior screens house 20MP wide-angle selfie cameras (f/2.2), capable of recording 4K videos and offering features such as gesture control, mirror reflection, and 2D face unlock.

The device is backed by a large 5820mAh battery (typical value), with a rated capacity of 5690mAh. It supports 66W HONOR SuperCharge wired charging and 50W wireless SuperCharge, though the wireless charger is sold separately. The maximum wired charging power is achieved using the original charger, and actual speeds may vary depending on conditions.

In terms of build, the Magic V5 measures 156.8mm in height. When folded, it is 74.3mm wide and up to 9mm thick depending on the version, while unfolded it is 145.9mm wide and as slim as 4.1mm. The Ivory White version weighs approximately 217g, while other versions weigh around 222g. The device also holds IP58 and IP59 ratings, offering protection against dust, splashes, and strong water sprays, though it is not suitable for high-dust environments or professional water exposure.

Pricing and Availability

It is available in four colour options: Dawn Gold, Reddish Brown, Ivory White, and Black. It is priced at RM 6,999.00 (approx. USD 1,656.18) in Malaysia for the 16GB + 512GB variant.
