HMD T21 with 10.36″ 2K display, 8200 mAh battery, Unisoc T612 SOC, launched in India at Rs 14,499

HMD is back with a new tablet, the HMD T21, for the Indian market. Although the tablet was already launched globally, it has now been released in India as well. The tablet features a large 8200 mAh battery, and according to HMD, it retains at least 80% of its original capacity even after 800 full charging cycles. This, as claimed by HMD, translates to around four years of battery life.

Specs and Features

HMD T21 comes in a Black Steel finish and measures 247.5 mm in height, 157.3 mm in width, and 7.5 mm in depth, with a weight of 467 g. It features a 10.36‑inch (26.31 cm) display with a 5:3 aspect ratio. Both the front and rear are equipped with 8 MP camera sensors. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, GPS/AGPS with GLONASS and GALILEO, USB Type‑C (USB 2.0) with OTG support, and dual‑band Wi‑Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). Power is supplied by a non‑removable 8200 mAh battery that supports 18 W fast charging (PD3.0), offering up to 18 days of standby time or up to 12 hours of talk time, and is rated for 800 full charging cycles.

Under the hood, it comes with a Unisoc T612 SoC paired with a single memory option of 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded further via microSD card up to 512 GB. While many users are already looking ahead to Android 16, HMD has launched the tablet with Android 13, and it can only be upgraded to Android 14. Although it will receive monthly security updates for three years, this may feel like a miss for those seeking a tablet with longer software support.

The tablet supports Wi‑Fi and 4G connectivity with voice calling, SMS, and IMS, and offers dual SIM support through a hybrid slot (nano SIM + nano SIM). Audio features include OZO Spatial Audio recording and playback, FM radio, two microphones, and dual speakers. Security is covered by three years of monthly updates. Physical controls include volume and power buttons, and in the box, you get a charger, a USB Type‑C cable, a SIM pin, and a user guide.
