Google officially introduces the next generation of Gemini-powered Nest Cams and Doorbell and the new Google Home Speaker

In September, Google unveiled Gemini for Home, and yesterday, the early access program details for Gemini for Home were officially revealed by the company. It was revealed that it will be gradually rolled out to Google Home subscribers in early 2026.

Apart from this, Google has also officially launched a few new Google Home devices that are built for Gemini. The new lineup includes Nest Cams and Doorbell, and Google Home Speaker.

New Nest Cams

The new AI camera includes- Nest Cam Indoor (3rd gen), Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd gen), and Nest Doorbell (3rd gen). All three new cameras feature 2K HDR video for incredible clarity. DXOMARK has ranked all three new cameras first in their class for image quality. They feature Google’s widest and tallest field of view. The new Nest Cams capture a 152-degree diagonal view, while the Nest Doorbell offers a 1:1 aspect ratio and 166-degree diagonal view so you can see packages on the round, wide entryways and visitors from head to toe.

Low-light performance is improved so you see rich color and detail with the help of a new sensor and a wider aperture. The cameras now stay in full-color mode much longer at dawn and dusk than before. They still feature high-powered infrared night vision. They arrive with new Gemini for Home capabilities: Zoomed-in video preview, get video history from Ask Home with event description and relevant video clips, and Home Brief provides a summary of hours of footage.

They are packed with helpful features:

  • Zoom in on what matters and crop out what doesn’t. Zoomed-in animated previews with your alerts are also rolled out.
  • Built-in intelligent alerts
  • The included event history is doubled compared to the previous generation of Nest Cams and Doorbells for three to six hours. You get 10-second clips of each event that happened.

All new cameras use encrypted video by default, two-step verification through your Google Account, and a clearly visible green LED. The outdoor camera and doorbell are IP65 rated.
