Xiaomi Watch 5, Redmi Buds 8 Pro and Xiaomi Tag announced in the UK

Xiaomi has launched a series of gadgets today in the global markets, and a few of them we will talk about in this article. These are Xiaomi Watch 5, Redmi Buds 8 Pro, and Xiaomi Tag amongst the few.

Here is more to it.

Xiaomi Watch 5 – Specs and Pricing

Xiaomi Watch 5 has been launched with Wear OS 6 based on Android 16, as expected, unlike its Chinese variant, which comes with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 custom skin. With this, the watch can now run the whole Google ecosystem, including the Play Store, Google Wallet, and Google Maps, right from the wrist.

It features a 1.54″ AMOLED display (480 x 480 pixels, 312 PPI) with a peak brightness of up to 1500 nits. Built on a 47mm chassis (47 x 47 x 12.3mm), it weighs 56g without the supplied fluororubber strap. And comes with a water resistance of 5ATM, which makes it is suitable for shallow-water swimming.

With the 930mAh battery, you may use it for around 6 days in regular Smart Mode, 4 days with the Always-On Display (AOD), and up to 18 days in Power-Saving Mode.

Under the hood, it has a dual-chip architecture to balance power and efficiency: the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 (4nm) conducts the heavy lifting, while the BES2800 (6nm) tackles low-power background operations. It features 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Additional sensors include a typical PPG sensor (heart rate), a barometer, and a unique EMG (Electromyography) sensor that detects small muscle signals for improved hand-gesture control.

It features dual-band GPS (L1+L5) for accurate outside tracking, as well as Bluetooth 5.4, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and NFC. It also features a built-in microphone and speaker for Bluetooth calling.

Unlike the Chinese form, the Xiaomi Watch 5 for the worldwide market only features a Bluetooth variant and no eSIM.

It retails for £269.99 in the UK and comes with basic fluororubber straps in Black or Juniper Green.

Redmi Buds 8 Pro (M2535E1) – Specs and Pricing

Just like above, Redmi Buds 8 Pro has also been launched in China, and the global variant also brings the same set of specs. In this, you will get three colour options of Glacier Blue, Obsidian Black, and Cloud White. These earbuds are designed for lightweight comfort, with each earbud weighing just 5.3g (measuring 30.6 x 21.3 x 24.5 mm) and housing a 54 mAh battery.

With a Coaxial Triple-Driver system, it consists of an 11mm titanium-plated dynamic driver for deep bass and dual 6.7mm piezoelectric ceramic tweeters for crisp highs. Redmi Buds 8 Pro are certified for Hi-Res Audio Wireless and support high-quality codecs like LDAC and LHDC 5.0, alongside Dolby Atmos for a spatial audio experience with dynamic head tracking.

Speaking more on this, a quick 5-minute charge in the case provides up to 2 hours of music playback. While the charging case, which houses a 480mAh battery, can extend the battery life up to 35 hours (with ANC off).

Lastly, connectivity options include Dual-Device Connectivity (multipoint), which allows switching between a laptop and a phone seamlessly, and it comes equipped with Bluetooth 5.4. Other features include Google Fast Pair, IP54 for dust and water resistance, and charging via USB Type-C (wireless charging not supported).

In the UK, it is priced at £64.99 and is available for purchase in the country.

Xiaomi Tag – Specs and Pricing

This is Xiaomi’s first ever dedicated Bluetooth item tracker, which has now been launched in the global markets and is compatible with both Google’s Android Find Hub (Android 9 or later) and Apple’s Find My (iOS/iPadOS 14.5 or later) network.

Speaking about the specs, it is compact and lightweight, weighing 10g and measuring 46.5 x 31 x 7.2mm.
