8BitDo introduces a new smartphone-focused gaming controller- FlipPad; Launching in Summer 2026

8BitDo, an innovative technology company that specialises in gaming peripherals, has officially introduced a new smartphone-focused gaming controller called FlipPad.

This device is made specifically for smartphones and is compatible with both Android and iOS. It is designed to play games in portrait mode. The controller has a Type-C connector that can be plugged into your phone’s USB-C port, and as demonstrated in the video, it then flips onto the bottom half of the screen of your smartphone.
It has a black D-Pad, burgundy ABXY buttons, grey Start and Select buttons, and six white buttons are also present. We may get to see some other colour options as well. The controller is officially supported by Apple.
The pricing details have not yet been announced. According to the company, this controller will be launching in Summer 2026, while the company will be providing the first hands-on experience of this device at the upcoming CES 2026 event (January 6-9), LVCC Central Hall, Booth #15641.
This device targets the growing mobile gaming market and is expected to provide convenience during gaming. The portrait mode distinguishes FlipPad from 8BitDo’s existing mobile controllers.
