BOE Announces New ADS Pro as its Advanced IPS LCD Display Panel for Smartphones: 30Hz to 120Hz/144Hz Variable Refresh Rate, Up to 1500 nits HBM, About 20% Reduced Power Consumption, and More

The Chinese tech maker – BOE has now announced its new ADS Pro smartphone display. Along with higher HBM, this latest IPS LCD display will be offering many advanced display related features for smartphone devices.

BOE’s New ADS Pro Display Panel Announced

As mentioned, BOE has now announced its new ADS Pro advanced IPS LCD panel for smartphone devices and it features a screen size of 6.74″. It supports a 1.5K resolution with 2720 x 1224 pixels, along with a pixel density of 443 PPI (which is revealed to be equivalent to the 600 PPI pixel density on OLED panels). Also, 30Hz to 120Hz/144Hz fixed variable refresh rate (VRR) is also given on the display. Additionally, apart from variable refresh rate, refresh rate partitioning is also revealed to be supported on it.

Most notably, up to 1500 nits peak global excitation brightness (HBM) is supported on the display, and users will be able to make use of it even under bright sunlight. Also, on the power consumption side, when compared with other such display panels, BOE’s new ADS Pro will be offering about 20% reduced power consumption.

Reportedly, this latest BOE display panel is said to be used in smartphone devices of under INR 15K price tag starting next year in 2026, and these upcoming smartphones are also claimed to pack battery backups ranging from 7,000 mAh to 8,000 mAh. Possibly, considering the high refresh rate, this display panel could be seen on budget gaming and performance-oriented smartphones in the coming year.

In related news, ITC (International Trade Commission) has issued a preliminary ruling against BOE following its infringement of Samsung’s display patents and the Chinese display maker may be getting banned in the US. The final ruling regarding the matter is scheduled for November 2025, two months later.
