Sam Johnstone moves to Crystal Palace, departs from West Brom

English premier League club Crystal Palace has signed goalkeeper Sam Johnstone from West Bromwich Albion on a deal of free transfer. The English goalkeeper’s contracted ended in June with West Brom and he was certain to not extend his contract with the club.

Johnstone has joined Crystal Palace on a four deal at the Selhurst Park.

Although, a lot of EPL clubs were keen to sign the 29 year old on a free transfer, with West Brom rejecting 10 million pounds bid for his services from West Ham last summer following their relegation.

“I’m really excited to be here at Crystal Palace. It’s a great club with fantastic facilities and brilliant supporters – I can’t wait to get started.” Johnstone said with his transfer to Crystal Palace.

Earlier on, Johnstone had a stint with Manchester United  and was transferred from 6.5 million to West Brom. On the national front, he has made three appearances for the England side and was also part of the Euro 2020 side.

“Sam is a player that we have admired for some time, and we are extremely pleased to welcome him to Crystal Palace.” said Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish.
