Sonny Barger passed away at the age of 83, RIP
Sonny Barger, also known as Ralph Hubert Barger, passed away at the age of 83. As per reports, he had Throat Cancer and he had his vocal cords removed.
He was a founder member of the Oakland, California chapter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club in 1957. He was also an author, actor, and outlaw biker in America. He wrote five books and had movie and television appearances.
In a Facebook post, published after his death, Barger wrote: “If you are reading this message, you’ll know that I’m gone. I’ve asked that this note be posted immediately after my passing.”
“I’ve lived a long and good life filled with adventure. And I’ve had the privilege to be part of an amazing club,” his Facebook post continued.
“Although I’ve had a public persona for decades, I’ve mostly enjoyed special time with my club brothers, my family, and close friends.”
He ended the note by saying: “Keep your head up high, stay loyal, remain free, and always value honor.”

On October 8th, 1938, Ralph Hubert Barger was born in Modesto, California. When Barger was 4 months old, his mother left him with his family, leaving his grandmother with his alcoholic father to nurture him and his older sister Shirley.
He frequently fought with other boys and was frequently suspended from school while he was a child in Oakland for attacking teachers. He left school after the ninth grade. Barger, who worked at a grocery shop and enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of sixteen in 1955 as many of his schoolmates became drug addicts, was given an honorable discharge 14 months later when it was found that he had faked his birth certificate in order to participate.
