Season 2 of ‘Squid Game’ is in the works, according to the director, Find Release Date

Squid Game director, creator, and writer Hwang Dong-hyuk claimed the Netflix blockbuster would return with new games and adventures.

The “Squid Game” is back for a second season on Netflix.

In an interview with the Associated Press on Tuesday, Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director, creator, and writer of the nine-episode Korean thriller, verified the news.

“For a second season, there’s been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much affection,” he remarked. “It’s almost as if you don’t give us a choice!” But I can assure you that there will be a second season.”

Season 2 is currently “in the planning phase,” according to the director, who did not specify a release date or when filming would begin.

“Gi-Hun will return, and he will do something for the planet,” he added.

“Squid Game,” directed by Lee Jung-jae, follows Seong Gi-Hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, as he and hundreds of other desperate and highly indebted contestants compete for $38 million in a violent and often obscene tournament. The prize can only be won by one person, and those who lose the series of children’s games pay with their lives.

According to Variety, “Squid Game” was Netflix’s biggest-ever series debut.

The show also featured traditional folk games, which have since become a source of internet meme fodder. #SquidGame has received over 56.5 billion views on TikTok.
