Rumor Has It Jennifer Lawrence Will Return as Mystique for the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Two years passed since Jennifer Lawrence’s last appearance, and she already feels a bit removed from the X-Men franchise. But considering the evolution of the film industry and the failure of the prior film, it seems like a lifetime ago. How likely is it that she will soon reprise her role as a comic book character? Well, sadly for the marvel fans, it’s just another rumour doing the round of the town.

In the three X-Men films The Days of Future Past, Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix, Jennifer Lawrence portrayed Mystique/Raven. All of these attracted a mixed reaction from the audience. Days of Future Past received great reviews, received a Tomatometer score of 90%, and brought in around $750 million at the box office. However, the sequel Apocalypse caused things to start declining. Despite having more over $500 million in ticket sales, it received only 47% of the favourable reviews. Dark Phoenix was a major failure after that. The $200 million budget was just about recovered, and it received a 22% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Jennifer Lawrence looked like she was done with this role.

Jennifer Lawrence said she would not be doing franchises anymore. She remarked how much she adores superhero films but that she is currently too old to play one. “Franchise is art, and they’re so fun; I could never do one now because I’m too old & brittle. I love them too,” Lawrence said, in a latest press event.
