Kenan Thompson Being Awarded A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame
Kenan Thompson, a renowned comedian, will soon join the legends in the history of comedy.
The veteran of Saturday Night Live will reportedly get his Hollywood Walk of Fame star on August 11. He will be listed next to the creator of Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels.
“Kenan Thompson is the voice of a generation,” Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said in a statement. “From Kenan and Kel to Saturday Night Live, Kenan has been making folks laugh for nearly 30 years.” In celebration of his upcoming 20th anniversary on SNL, we thought it would be fitting to place Kenan’s star next to the star of the man who gave him his job, Lorne Michaels.”
The 44-year-old Thompson will be a member of the 2022 Walk of Fame class, it was confirmed last summer. Along with Thompson, Tracee Ellis Ross represents television.
The All That alumni shared the joyful news on Instagram as soon as he discovered it.
“Woke up this morning to incredible news!! I’m getting a [star emoji] on The Hollywood Walk of Fame!!!! Shout to the entire class of 2022!!!! I’m completely humbled by this news!!! Thank you so very much to everyone who has enjoyed my work for the last almost 30 yrs!!”
Since the early 1990s, Thompson has been a mainstay in the comedy world. In 1994, he had his big-screen debut in D2: The Mighty Ducks, and the following year, he joined the founding cast of the Nickelodeon sketch-comedy series All That.
Lorne Michaels made Thompson an offer to work on SNL in 2003, and she has since played a significant role in the ensemble.
