Kaun Banega Crorepati 13: The Sholay team reunites after 46 years; leaves the audience nostalgic

On Friday, The Shandaar Shukravaar episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 13 began with a grand Dusshera celebration and left the audience totally mesmerized until the very end. The Friday episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 13 featured some celebrated actors from the Ramesh Sippy milestone Sholay, rekindling some of the epic incidents that happened four decades before, during the shooting of the film. The septuagenarian director mentioned how eager he was to cast Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Sanjeev Kumar after the success of the Hindi comedy drama film Seeta aur Geeta in 1972. The suggestion of Amitabh Bachchan came just on time, when writer Salim Khan mentioned his name to Sippy for casting him in the role of Jay. Captivated by his proficiency in acting, in the movies like ‘Anand’ and ‘Bombay to Goa,’ Sippy consented to assign one of the pivotal roles to Big B. The episode became even more watch-worthy when Hema Malini and Amitabh Bachchan matched steps to the tunes of the song Dilbar on the insistence of the director. As because it was a reunion, the duo also enacted a few popular scenes from the famous 1975 release.

The Action King Dharmendra also joined the episode through a video call and both Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra recalled a past incident, on how, they  were once getting late while reaching the set because their vehicle was damaged and decided to reach the set through an auto rickshaw instead of their private vehicle. Hema Malini also recalled how some of the scenes were extremely tough and needed all the actors to employ a huge effort and how everyone enjoyed the entire process despite being so complicated.

In the episode Hema Malini also met Reshma Pathan, the first stunt women of the industry and rewarded her contribution towards the industry through a standing ovation.
