HBO planning to leave India’s biggest streamer Disney+Hotstar

HBO exclusive content like House of the Dragons, and Succession is to leave the biggest streamer of India Disney + Hotstar. HBO content has been streaming on Disney + Hotstar since 2016 but its plan to leave Disney+ Hotstar will affect it severely. This news has come to light through a Twitter username Utsav Techie.

As per the speculation around this news, experts say that Disney’s CEO’s announcement of cost-cutting has led to this decision. Other than this Disney+Hotstar witnessed a decline in users that was partly because of the loss of the IPL tournament bid.

If we talk about the next base for HBO content it can be Prime Video. The Twitter user who wrote about it also mentioned that HBO is likely to get a separate channel from HBO Max in Prime Video. There are already a number of channels on Prime Video are Discovery+, AMC+, Lionsgate Play, and Mubi.

Though it won’t be easy for Disney+Hotstar to bear this untimely departure as Game of Thrones like series by HBO are among those which have majorly helped it to build a subscriber base in India. If we talk about some of the shows on HBO that are already surfacing on Prime Video it is The flight Attendant, And Just Like That, Gossip Girl, and Raised by Wolves.
