Fraud Alert! The Kashmir Files link, Don’t click!

Are you super excited to watch ‘The Kashmir Files’ if you haven’t watched it yet? We suggest you be wary of clicking on any download link for the film especially if sent on Whatsapp.

Ranvijay Singh, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida has warned people against clicking on any link related to The Kashmire Files received on Whatapp.

According to Singh, Delhi is witnessing a boom in fraud owing to the film. Cyber hackers are sending WhatsApp links to download the film. Once the user clicks on this link, their phone information is compromised.

Singh told TOI that hackers can “easily steal confidential details, including information on bank account” if a user clicks on the malicious link.

An OTT subscription is way cheaper than sabotaging your bank account to watch a movie. While this may be a peculiar case, users, in general, should be wary of clicking on links that come from unknown numbers on Whatsapp.

The worst part is that people don’t know their devices have been hacked until it’s too late and their bank accounts have been emptied.
