Next month, DC’s “Batman: The Audio Adventures” will return to HBO Max for a second season, with actor Jeffrey Wright reprising his role as the legendary superhero.

On Friday, October 7, all ten episodes of “Batman: The Audio Adventures” Season 2 will debut exclusively on HBO Max.

Batman: The Audio Adventures Season 2 Premiere Date Announced by HBO Max

Dennis McNicholas is the author of “Batman: The Audio Adventures,” a series that resembles an old-fashioned radio play. Wright is joined by the rest of the ensemble cast, which also includes the following:

  • Ike Barinholtz as Two-Face,
  • Rosario Dawson as Catwoman,
  • Gillian Jacobs as Harley Quinn,
  • Bobby Moynihan as The Penguin and Bat-Mite,
  • John Leguizamo as The Riddler,
  • Seth Meyers as Jack Ryder,
  • Brooke Shields as Vicki Vale,
  • Brent Spiner as The Joker,
  • Kenan Thompson as Commissioner Gordon,
  • Alan Tudyk as Alfred,
  • Melissa Villaseñor as Robin;
  • Bradley Whitford as Scarecrow;
  • Chris Parnell as the narrator.

Wright, who has acted in HBO’s “Westworld,” “No Time to Die,” and “The French Dispatch,” coincidentally played Lt. James Gordon in Warner Bros.'”The Batman,” which stars Robert Pattinson. He claims that the only thing they have in common is his devotion to the Batman film series.

Wright claims that Matt Reeves, the director of “The Batman,” and McNicholas are both truly passionate followers of the character and have a really encyclopedic grasp of Caped Crusader lore. According to him, both have made an effort to rethink the world in ways that are fresh but at the same time are steeped in its origins.

The cauldron of crime and corruption in Gotham City is poised to burst in Season 2 of “Batman: The Audio Adventures.” While The Joker is still at large, criminal lords and former rivals The Penguin and Two-Face have teamed together, and the enigmatic narco-terrorist known as Scarecrow is still free despite the city being plagued by his chemical nightmares. The division between Batman and Catwoman widens as each intensifies their own campaigns against crime, posing severe risks to both parties. And Harleen Quinzel (better known as Harley Quinn) is waiting for inspiration while she lives for a love that is slowly killing her.

“It’s a fairly dense series. There’s a lot in there,” Wright says to Variety.

Batman Unburied, a dramatized podcast from DC/Warner Bros. on Spotify, provides an alternative origin tale for the superhero in addition to “Batman: The Audio Adventures.” The program recently received a second season renewal from Spotify. Winston Duke plays the titular character in “Batman Unburied,” which was written and directed by David S. Goyer.

At New York Comic Con, HBO Max is promoting the new season of “Batman: The Audio Adventures,” with a panel discussion including writer-director McNicholas, Wright, and Moynihan scheduled for Oct. 7 at 1:45 p.m.

This fall, a new “Batman: The Audio Adventures” seven-issue comic book serial will be released in addition to the audio series. The comics’ artwork is by Anthony Marques and J. Bone, with a cover by Dave Johnson and two variant covers—one by Michael Allred and the other by Marques and J. Bone—both written by McNicholas. Issue No. 1 will be available on September 27 for $3.99.

In the new miniseries, a spate of crimes has paralyzed Gotham’s seedy underbelly after a series of attacks. But a crew of enigmatic attackers on the prowl for an antiquated item, not Batman, is striking at the city’s core. Batman is pursuing the assassins, but he keeps coming across hints that point to their real objective—the sword of King Scimitar.
