Sony reported increase in revenue for its Game & Network Services division for Q2 FY2025

Sony has officially released its financial results for Q2, FY2025, in which the company reported that it has witnessed a significant increase in revenue for its Game & Network Services division, but there is a decline in the operating income for this division.
As per the company, the Game & Network Services division experienced around a 13% reduction in the operating income for the quarter. This decline is said to be due to the impairment losses against a portion of Bungie, Inc.’s intangible and other assets in connection with Destiny 2.

Coming to the sales related to the Game & Network Services division, the company reported quarterly sales of ¥1.1 trillion (approx. US $7.1 billion), up around 4%. In this quarter, the company sold 3.9 million units of PlayStation 5, with up to 84.2 million lifetime units sold till now. Other than this, 80.3 million full game software units were sold, and 6.3 million first-party software units were sold. Monthly active users on the PlayStation network have increased slightly to 119 million during the quarter, compared to 116 million during the same period last year.
The full game software digital download ratio (PlayStation 4/ PlayStation 5) has increased to 72%, compared to 70% during the same period last year.
