Samsung x OpenAI Strategic Partnership Announced, Aiming Advancements in Global AI Infrastructure
At the recently-held signing ceremony held in South Korea, Samsung officials have together formed an alliance with the American AI tech company – OpenAI. Aiming advancements in the field of global AI infrastructure, the collective strengths of both the companies and the leadership from Samsung departments will be put together in achieving this end.

Samsung x OpenAI – Strategic Partnership Officially Announced
As part of a strategic partnership, Samsung and OpenAI as mentioned have joined their hands together and its signing ceremony was held recently at Samsung’s corporate headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. Young Hyun Jun (Vice Chairman & CEO of Samsung Electronics), Sung-an Choi (Vice Chairman & CEO of Samsung Heavy Industries), Sechul Oh (President & CEO of Samsung C&T), and Junehee Lee (President & CEO of Samsung SDS) attended the ceremony, aiming AI-related advancements across the fields of semiconductors, data centers, shipbuilding, cloud services, and maritime technologies.
Speaking more, Samsung Electronics and OpenAI will act as a strategic memory partner and will be supplying advanced semi-conductor solutions for OpenAI’s global Stargate initiative. As per what has been revealed, Samsung will be helping in meeting OpenAI’s memory demand that is said to reach up to 900,000 DRAM wafers per month. The Samsung SDS and OpenAI partnership will be targeting the development of AI data centers and also to provide enterprise AI services. Finally, Samsung C&T and Samsung Heavy Industries will be collaborating with OpenAI to further advance global AI data centers, focusing on floating data centers and addressing issues like land scarcity, carbon emissions, and cooling costs.
Additionally, Samsung’s and OpenAI’s strategic partnership also aims to support South Korea’s goal of becoming one among the top three AI nations of the world. Adoption of ChatGPT in the mentioned Samsung companies is also in plan, facilitating AI transformation in the workplaces too.
