OpenAI to open a corporate office in New Delhi in the coming months

Just a few days back, OpenAI introduced a new ChatGPT Go plan exclusively for India. This new subscription tier comes at an affordable price of Rs 399/month and offers access to features like 10x higher message limits, 10x more image generations, 10x more file uploads, and 2x longer memory compared with the free plan available.  The plan included everything in the ChatGPT Free plan and some additional features.

After the launch of this plan, OpenAI now seems to be planning to expand its footprint in India. The company has officially confirmed that it will be opening its first office in India in New Delhi in the coming months. OpenAI has revealed that it has officially established an entity in India and has begun hiring a dedicated local team.

The company has previously opened its offices in markets including Japan, Singapore, and South Korea, and now it is heading to the Indian market. OpenAI has underlined the swift uptake of its AI tools in a market that is ChatGPT’s second-largest after the US and among its fastest-growing markets.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in a statement, “The level of excitement and opportunity for AI in India is incredible. India has all the ingredients to become a global AI leader: amazing tech talent, a world-class developer ecosystem, and strong government support through the IndiaAI Mission.”

OpenAI plans to get feedback from Indian users to make its products relevant for the local audience and even build features and tools specifically for the country.
