Micron Technology, Inc. announces its decision to exit the Crucial consumer business; Crucial consumer product shipments will continue until February 2026

Crucial is Micron’s consumer-focused brand and has been used on RAM, SSDs, and even SD cards for years and years. Amidst a surge in demand for memory and storage driven by AI data centres, Micron has officially announced its decision to exit the Crucial consumer business, including the sale of Crucial consumer-branded products at key retailers, e-tailers, and distributors worldwide.
In the press release, the company has revealed that it will continue Crucial consumer product shipments through the consumer channel until the end of fiscal Q2 (February 2026). Micron will also work closely with partners and customers through this transition and will be providing warranty service and support for Crucial products.
Micron has taken this decision to improve supply and support for its larger, strategic customers in faster-growing segments.
Sumit Sadana, EVP and Chief Business Officer at Micron Technology, said in a statement, “Thanks to a passionate community of consumers, the Crucial brand has become synonymous with technical leadership, quality, and reliability of leading-edge memory and storage products. We would like to thank our millions of customers, hundreds of partners, and all of the Micron team members who have supported the Crucial journey for the last 29 years.”
The company also intends to reduce the impact on team members due to this decision and will therefore redeploy opportunities into existing open positions within the company. It will continue to support the sale of Micron-branded enterprise products to commercial channel customers globally.
It is being assumed that Micron may also cease selling Crucial NVMe and SATA SSDs due to the rise in prices, but there has been no official announcement made related to this
