Meta joins hands with Manus to deliver general-purpose agents across its platforms

Yesterday, it was officially announced that Manus is joining Meta to bring a leading agent to all Meta platforms. Manus is a Singapore-based developer of general-purpose AI agents designed to help users tackle research, automation, and complex tasks.

Reportedly, Meta has acquired Manus in a $2 billion deal. Meta has said in a statement that they will continue to operate and sell the Manus service, as well as integrate it into its products. Also, Manus will continue to operate from Singapore.

Earlier this year, Manus introduced its first General AI Agent that has already served more than 147T tokens and created more than 80M virtual computers. Now Meta plans to scale this service to many more businesses. Manus will be joining Meta’s team to deliver general-purpose agents across Meta’s consumer and business products, including in Meta AI.

The CEO of Manus, Xiao Hong, mentioned, “Joining Meta allows us to build on a stronger, more sustainable foundation without changing how Manus works or how decisions are made. We’re excited about what the future holds with Meta and Manus working together, and we will continue to iterate on the product and serve users who have defined Manus from the beginning.”

According to a report by NIKKEI Asia, Meta has specified that after the acquisition, Manus will no longer have any Chinese ownership or operations in China.
