Global top 10 best-selling smartphones in 2025 revealed by Counterpoint

For the past three years, Apple and Samsung dominated the top 10 best-selling smartphone list for the global market, and this year also the brands have also continued to do the same. Counterpoint has officially revealed the global top 10 best-selling smartphones in 2025.

Apple and Samsung models have captured the top 10 spots, and it is revealed that these models have contributed 19% of the overall smartphone sales last year.
According to Research Analyst Harshit Rastogi, “The iPhone 17 series has achieved 16% higher sales than the predecessor series during its first full quarter in the market, driven by strong initial demand in key markets such as the US, China, and Western Europe.” Looking at the ranks, iPhone 16 has enjoyed the most consumer attention, followed by iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 16e model, which was a new addition in the iPhone 16 series, also managed to be in the top 10 list with its 10th position.
Coming to the Samsung models, the list included Galaxy A16 5G, Galaxy A06 4G, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. According to the Senior Analyst Karn Chauhan, “ The Galaxy S25 Ultra improved its regional share, growing more than 3x YoY in Japan and achieving double-digit growth in India.” He further mentioned that the Galaxy S25 Ultra has narrowed the sales share gap with Samsung’s best-selling A series despite the significant price contrast.
For this year, it is said that the memory shortage is forecasted to extensively impact entry-to-mid segment smartphones, the sales of which remain highly concentrated in emerging markets like the Middle East and Africa and Latin America. Meanwhile, the flagship smartphones are expected to further increase their presence and sales contribution to the overall market.
