In 2024, Canva welcomed Affinity, bringing professional video editing, vector design and layout into its growing creative suite. Now, Cavalry is brought alongside Affinity, unlocking a complete professional suite spanning photo, vector, layout, and now motion editing.
Cavalry built a modern 2D animation and motion tool, and now, with the acquisition, this tool arrives on Canva. The professional suite mentioned above forms the foundation of a full-stack Creative OS for professional work.
Coming to MangoAI, it brings deep expertise in data intelligence and reinforcement learning, with technology designed to connect creative output directly to performance. Their first product was designed to help generate and launch video ads, then learn from the real-world results to automatically improve what comes next.
When aligned with MagicBrief on Canva, these capabilities strengthen the intelligence layer of Canva, connecting insight, performance, and creation in a continuous loop.
In joining forces with MangoAI, the former Vice President of Data Science & Engineering at Netflix, Nirmal Govind, joins Canva as its first Chief Algorithms Officer. He will lead personalisation and algorithmic experiences across Canva, working closely with Canva’s AI Lab to build the future of Visual AI.
Apart from this, Vinit Misra is appointed as Reinforcement Learning Lead in Canva’s Research Lab. He will be playing a key role in shaping the next generation of AI experiences and marketing products across Canva.
