Yamaha officially unveils its first EVs: AEROX-E and EC-06 in India

India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. yesterday officially introduced its first EVs- the AEROX-E & EC—06, marking the brand’s transition into the next phase of its journey in India with choices that are dynamic, accessible, and sustainable.
Yamaha AEROX-E
The AEROX-E is powered by a 9.4 kW (peak power), 48 Nm of torque electric motor for high acceleration, along with dual detachable 3kWh batteries. It delivers instant acceleration with efficient power management. The dual batteries are powered by high-energy type cells for extraordinary performance. The EV has a certified range of 106km.
It features multiple riding modes- Eco, Standard, and Power, with the addition of a Boost function allowing riders rapid acceleration for a quick start and strong pick-up. There is also a reverse mode. This EV embodies Yamaha’s Heart-Shaking Speedster design philosophy through its Proud Body Size, Athletic Proportions, and distinctive X Centre Motif. It is based on the River Indie platform.
There are twin LED Class D headlights, LED flashers, a 3D effect LED taillight, a large color TFT screen with turn-by-turn navigators, ergonomic grips, front and rear disc brakes, and single-channel ABS. The Y-connect mobile app connectivity further allows Multi-information Display, and smart connectivity features such as maintenance reminders and last parked location. It is equipped with a smart key system and a conveniently positioned external charging port.
Yamaha EC-06
The EC-06 is said to enhance first and last-mile connectivity for customers. It is developed in India with a global outlook. The EV is powered by a 4.5 kW electric motor generating 6.7 kW (peak power) along with a 4 kWh high-capacity fixed battery. It has a certified range of 160 km. There are also three riding modes and a reverse mode. Charging the fixed battery is simple and user-friendly, with a standard home plug-in option that fully charges the scooter in approximately 9 hours.
It comes equipped with front and rear disc brakes, a coloured LCD display, and LED headlights and taillights. The model includes a built-in telematics unit with a SIM, enabling real-time connectivity and data access. It has an under-seat storage of 24.5 litres, generating a large storage space.
Yamaha EC-06 is expected to launch next year.
