Yamaha enters the Indian EV market with its first electric scooter- EC-06; Launched at Rs 1,67,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

With the ongoing competition in the EV market, Yamaha has decided to hop in by launching its first-ever electric scooter in India, the EC-06.

Yamaha EC-06: Features

The scooter is powered by an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous System Motor (IPMSM) paired with a 4kWh battery and can be charged from 0-80% in 8 hours/ 0-100% in 10 hours. The battery comes with a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty. It covers a 169km range (IDC) and 79km/h top speed. It offers 26Nm of maximum torque and peak power of 6.7Kw.

The EC-06 features an LED headlight and taillights that offer increased brightness. There are three riding modes available- Economy, Standard, and Power. You can select among these based on your riding cycle and road conditions. The reverse mode is also available for the users. Its plush and long seat provides ample space and support for both the rider and pillion, while there is a spacious footspace and massive 24.5L under-seat storage.

It comes with a 1354mm wheelbase, 145mm ground clearance, and 132kg kerb weight. The scooter is compatible with the Y-Connect R app. It comes with an IP67 (Motor & battery)/ IP65 (for other electronics) rating. It is equipped with a Combined Braking System (CBS), while the telescopic front suspension with hydraulic dampers and rear coil ring suspension ensures a smooth ride through urban conditions. The scooter is equipped with 200mm front and rear disc brakes. The LCD display provides real-time information on speed, battery status, riding modes, and connectivity features.

Yamaha EC-06: Availability

Yamaha’s first electric scooter is priced at INR 1,67,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is available in Bluish White colour, and the model will be sold in select cities through Yamaha’s premium Blue Square showrooms.
