The prepaid family plan offers:

• Active Vi prepaid subscribers can form a family group consisting of up to four users- one primary account holder and up to three secondary members.
• Family groups are not restricted to a single telecom circle, allowing members based in different Indian cities or states to be linked under the same setup.
• Each participant maintains their existing prepaid plan and validity schedule. However, members gain the ability to transfer up to 500MB of data per transaction to assist any linked user running low on balance.
• The group setup and data sharing are managed through the official Vi app. In addition to shared allowances, participating members receive discounts of up to 10% on recharges completed via the platform.

Airtel’s new postpaid plans with free international roaming

The complimentary international Roaming pack offers 5GB of data, 60 minutes of calls, 25 outgoing SMS, and free incoming SMS, all valid for 5 days. Customers have complete flexibility to activate the 5-day pack at the exact time of their choice, making it easier to stay connected while travelling abroad.

For customers on Airtel Postpaid family plans, the free International Roaming option is available for each and every family member who is part of the plan. Free International Roaming is the latest addition to Airtel Postpaid plans, which come with a superior experience through Fast Lane technology, Unlimited Data, and network-level protection against spam and fraudulent links.

New Airtel Postpaid Plans

How can customers get the new plans?

Effective October 8, 2026, these postpaid plans are available for all customers opting for Airtel Postpaid. Existing Airtel customers (both on old postpaid plans or prepaid) can easily upgrade to these plans through the Airtel app or by visiting the nearest Airtel store.

Non-Airtel customers can switch to Airtel Postpaid by raising a switching request to Airtel through the Airtel app or by visiting an Airtel store.

Vi free international roaming

Depending on the plan, customers can avail of free international roaming for up to three trips a year. The included benefits vary by plan and cover different allowances for international data, outgoing calling minutes, calling & SMS, and travel validity.

With this announcement, Vi is offering customers savings of up to Rs 9000 per year. Eligible postpaid plans also include their applicable regular benefits, such as data, calling and entertainment.

The proposition covers individual, family and business travellers. Under eligible family plans, the primary and free secondary members can use their respective included roaming benefits.

This move addresses several challenges traditionally associated with international travel, including purchasing local or travel SIMs, losing access to an Indian mobile number, managing OTPs, relying on public WiFi and dealing with unexpected roaming charges.

The company has also launched a commercial featuring Shah Rukh Khan as part of its “Vi Pe Sab Hain VIP” campaign.

Eligible customers can access free international roaming and other benefits through postpaid plans starting at Rs 501, annual prepaid unlimited data plans and corporate plans starting at Rs 451 for enterprise consumers. Customers can activate the benefit through the Vi app by selecting the eligible international Roam-Free plans.

Airtel Postpaid Offer

Airtel has expanded the benefits available with its INR 999 and higher family postpaid plans. These plans now include Apple’s expanded iCloud+ offering, giving eligible customers access to cloud storage, Apple TV and Apple Arcade.

With iCloud+, customers will be able to store, sync and access their photos, files, passwords, contacts and other information across their Apple devices. Their data will also be securely backed up, making it easier to set up a new device.

Regarding the entertainment benefits, Apple TV offers access to Apple Original series and films. Apple Arcade, meanwhile, provides unlimited access to hundreds of games, without advertisements or in-app purchases.

The INR 999 family postpaid plan supports three family members and offers unlimited data with Fastlane technology. Spam protection and access to various entertainment subscriptions are also included with the plan.

Eligible customers can upgrade through the Airtel App or by visiting an Airtel store.

Jio and Canva Partnership – Complimentary Subscription Benefits

As per the details shared, Jio users recharging with the INR 399 prepaid plan will get a complimentary Canva Pro plan, whereas those recharging with an INR 349 recharge plan will receive a complimentary Pro Lite subscription for 12 months.

The offer will go live on 16th September 2026, and eligible users will be able to claim their complimentary subscription through the MyJio application. However, JIO hasn’t confirmed that wheatehr users will have to keep recharging with the same plan to keep the free subscription active or if it’s just a one-time recharge and the benefit will be there for 12 months.

Major satellite internet players: Starlink, Eutelsat OneWeb, Jio Satellite and Amazon Leo have secured permission to provide satellite communication services in India. Commercial operations, however, cannot begin until spectrum is assigned and the companies receive the second stage of security clearance.

It is revealed that DCC has approved the proposal to charge 5% adjusted gross revenue (AGR) as a spectrum fee for satcom firms, which will be discounted to 4% in rural or remote areas. Spectrum will be granted for 5 years, with a possible extension of 2 years.

TRAI also recommended an additional Rs 500 per urban subscriber per year for non-geostationary orbit (NGSO)-based satellite services. However, the DoT rejected the proposed per-subscriber charge, citing difficulties in distinguishing between urban and rural users. It also turned down TRAI’s proposal to subsidise fixed satellite terminals for select rural and remote subscribers through the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN), saying the existing framework does not provide for such subsidies.

The Satellite spectrum will not be auctioned. Instead, the government will assign it directly to operators.

BSNL Fibre Freedom Plan – Specs and Benefits

Starting with the new broadband offering, BSNL has introduced the Fibre Freedom Plan at a special launch price of INR 1,111 per month. Under the plan, users get internet speeds of up to 200Mbps along with 5,000GB of monthly data.

Another major highlight of this plan is the bundled entertainment offering, as users will get access to more than 25 premium OTT platforms with a single connection. Some of the platforms shown by BSNL include JioHotstar, Sony LIV, ZEE5, Lionsgate Play, ShemarooMe, Hungama, EPIC ON, Chaupal, hoichoi, WAVES Premium, ManoramaMAX, FanCode, NammaFlix and Dollywood Play, among others.

Apart from this, the plan also offers 24×7 unlimited calling to any number across India, while a dual-band Wi-Fi ONT is included with the connection.

Speaking of the offer, this plan otherwise costs INR 1,199 per month, but BSNL is currently offering an INR 88 discount every month for six months, bringing its monthly price down to INR 1,111 during the offer period.

BSNL Launches New Selfcare App

Apart from the new broadband offer, BSNL has also revamped its Selfcare mobile app as part of its digital transformation efforts. Called BSNL Selfcare New, the app has been introduced on both Android and iOS platforms and is aimed at providing users with a smoother and easier way to manage their BSNL services.

Users can make prepaid recharges, pay postpaid, landline and FTTH bills, register and track complaints, manage DND preferences, check payment history and even place Fibre booking requests directly through the app.

Furthermore, BSNL has also added AI chatbot support, voice search, multiple-account management and access to BSNL Entertainment TV within the new Selfcare app.

The app is available through both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

BSNL Partners With Polycab for Make in India Telecom Manufacturing

Lastly, BSNL has announced a new partnership with Polycab aimed at advancing indigenous telecom manufacturing under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.

At the centre of this collaboration is Polycab’s Electronic Manufacturing Services or EMS facility, which will be used for assembling and manufacturing telecom and networking equipment in India. Products mentioned as part of the partnership include cameras, ONTs, routers and other networking equipment.

Another interesting thing about this partnership is the use of a Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) model. Through this, BSNL aims to assist in deploying scalable, cost-effective and future-ready infrastructure without requiring heavy upfront investment.

The partnership is also aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing, improving supply-chain self-reliance and further developing India’s telecom ecosystem.

With the new Fibre Freedom broadband offer, revamped Selfcare app and Polycab partnership, BSNL has announced multiple consumer and infrastructure-focused initiatives as part of its Independence Day celebrations.

Jio OTT-Pass – New Quarterly and Annual Plans Introduced

The newly introduced INR 550 Jio OTT Pass offers 84 days of validity, 90GB of high-speed data, and unlimited 5G. However, this pass is only available to subscribers using an active three-month or one-year base plan, excluding voice-only packs.

Coming to the new annual option, the INR 2,000 Jio OTT Pass offers a validity of 365 days, 365GB of high-speed data, and unlimited 5G. This plan can only be activated by customers with an eligible active one-year base plan and is also unavailable with voice-only packs.

Whereas, there is no change in the existing INR 200 Jio OTT Pass, as it still offers a validity of 28 days and comes with 30GB of high-speed data and unlimited 5G. This pass can be activated by all Jio subscribers with an eligible active base plan, except those using voice-only packs.

Subscribers must have an eligible active base plan to use their data and entertainment benefits, as these are add-on passes.

Speaking about their entertainment benefits, all three Jio OTT-Pass options bundle access to 15 premium streaming platforms and more than 1,000 live television channels (Star Plus HD, Colors HD, SET HD, Sun TV HD, Discovery, and Cartoon Network, among others) through the JioTV app.

YouTube Premium is also included in all three passes, offering ad-free streaming, background playback, and offline downloads across supported televisions, tablets, and smartphones.

Subscribers will also receive JioHotstar Mobile + Hollywood, providing access to live sports, Hotstar Originals, and Hollywood content.

There is a slight change with Amazon Prime benefits, as the INR 550 and INR 2,000 passes include an Amazon Prime Lite membership with Prime Video, while the INR 200 monthly pass offers Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition.

The remaining 12 streaming platforms included with the passes are SonyLIV, ZEE5, Lionsgate Play, Discovery+, SunNXT, FanCode, Hoichoi, Chaupal, Planet Marathi, Kanccha Lannka, TimesPlay, and Tarang Plus. These services will be available through the JioTV app.

Availability

The new INR 550 and INR 2,000 Jio OTT-Pass plans have been made available for recharge starting from the 7th of August 2026, alongside the already available INR 200 monthly plan.
