The rumours of an LPG shortage have been circulating in India for a long time now, increasing users’ fear and concern. Well, scammers are now exploiting this fear among Indian users by circulating malicious messages and links online, posing as LPG booking and KYC update messages.

There have been numerous cases reported where Indian LPG users have been scammed by clicking on malicious links and downloading APK files disguised as LPG service updates/ LPG booking/ KYC update messages.

Users on X, Facebook and other social media platforms have also reported receiving bulk SMS or WhatsApp messages from suspicious sender IDs such as LPG, Indane, and LPG Fast. It also reported that the scammers have developed fake websites using the names of LPG companies.

Police officials in various states have already issued warnings regarding the increase in such cases. The Indian Bank has also urged users not to click on unknown links and share personal information. Users are advised to always verify such messages and links through official channels before proceeding with them, in order to protect their bank accounts from fraud.

If you have received any such suspicious message or link, then you can report it immediately to cyber fraud by dialling 1930 or visiting cybercrime.gov.in.

Meanwhile, authorities have already begun issuing alerts across social media platforms and have also deployed personnel in residential areas to spread awareness regarding these scams.

Social media platform X has again landed in a controversy, as a case has been registered against the platform due to the circulation of an AI-generated video.

Case registered against the X platform

The cyber wing of the Kerala police has registered a case against social media platform X and one of its handles for circulating an AI-generated video allegedly depicting the PM and Election Commission of India (ECI) in a “misleading and defamatory manner.”

Reportedly, a case was registered against the X account Laxmi N Raju (@valiant_Raju), and others, which includes X Corp, at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Thiruvananthapuram City.

According to the police, the allegedly defamatory content was brought to its notice through official channels, including the ECI. It is mentioned in a statement, “Upon verification, it was assessed that the material had the potential to mislead the public, undermine the credibility of constitutional bodies, and adversely impact the conduct of free and fair elections.”

It is revealed that an investigation is underway to determine responsibility and initiate legal action. The police have also sent legal notices to the intermediary under provisions of the IT Act and Rules, seeking quick removal of the content. Though the video is still available on the platform as of the writing of this article.

The public is also urged to remain vigilant and avoid creating, sharing or amplifying unverified or misleading content, particularly during the elections.

A new leak suggests that Motorola’s newly launched Edge 70 Fusion in India might quietly switch from faster UFS 3.1 storage to slower UFS 2.2 in upcoming production batches.

According to a recent post by tech tipster Sanju Choudhary (@saaaanjjjuuu) on X, early adopters of the newly launched Motorola Edge 70 Fusion might be getting a better deal than those who wait. The tipster shared that the company is currently using faster UFS 3.1 storage for the smartphone, but this specification may not be permanent across the device’s entire lifecycle.

The leak claims that only the “first few batches” of the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion will feature the superior UFS 3.1 storage. Once these initial units are sold, Motorola might eventually transition to using the older and slower UFS 2.2 storage standard for subsequent production runs. This type of silent component swapping means that consumers buying the phone later down the line could end up with a device that underperforms compared to the review units and early retail models.

We also reached out to the Motorola team, and as of the writing of this article, the team has not shared any official statement to either confirm or deny these claims. But whatever the case may be, if there is any update, we will surely confirm.

The user mentioned that after he updated his device to Android 16 OS, a problem occurred on his device where it got switched off at night and then the screen got stuck on the hello moto logo, while the screen keeps getting off.

Further in the comment section, he also mentioned that when he reached out to the service center, he was told that there was a hardware issue, though the user clarified that the issue occurred after updating to Android 16. On inquiring about the charge to resolve this issue, he was told that around 80% of the phone’s cost will be charged for the repair.

A few Motorola Edge 50 Fusion users have reported facing a similar situation on Reddit and the Lenovo forum. They also faced this issue after installing the Android 16 update on their device.

The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion launched with Android 14 OS, and the company had promised 3 major OS upgrades for the device. Well, Android 16 is the second major upgrade for the device, but facing issues after installing this major update, the users have now started questioning Motorola’s reliability.

Mahindra had announced just a few days back that it would again open bookings for just one day for the BE 6 Batman Edition in India. Though it did not initially announce how many units would be available for booking, the company later mentioned in a follow-up post on X that a total of 999 units would be available for pre-booking.

Today, pre-bookings started at around 11:00 AM IST with a price tag of ₹28,49,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and, according to Mahindra, it took just 7 minutes for all 999 units to be completely booked. However, this is not the first time the company has seen such demand. The BE 6 Batman Edition was first introduced in August of last year and was also limited to 999 units. At that time, it was priced at ₹27.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The company had then claimed that the entire lot was booked in just 137 seconds, i.e., less than 3 minutes. While the earlier batch sold out faster, the latest booking window was also filled within minutes.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin from 10 April onwards. The company further added that priority delivery will be given to customers who came through referrals from those who already own the BE 6 Batman Edition.

Mahindra has also confirmed that, in the near future, the company will bring something similar again.

This step is taken to ensure an open, safe, trusted, and accountable internet for its users, including women and children. The banned platforms include Ullu, ALTBalaji, Feneo, Big Shots, Desifix, Boomex, Gulaab app, Kangan app, Bull app, Adda TV, Hulchul app, and more.

The banned platforms were found violating provisions under the IT Rules 2021, Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act 2012, Cinematography Act 1952, and the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules 1983.

The government has officially revealed that it has taken certain additional measures to deal with cybercrimes, including the illegal circulation of pornographic content in a coordinated manner:

• Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) operates the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in).
• Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C).
• Financial assistance provided to States/UTs under the Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children.
• The government periodically blocks websites containing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)
• Internet Service Providers have been directed to dynamically block CSAM websites.
• ISPs have also been advised to promote parental control filters and block access to identified CSAM websites, including through international gateways.
• Public awareness on cyber safety is promoted through initiatives such as @CyberDost, radio campaigns, and publication of handbooks for students and adolescents.
• MoU between NCRB (MHA) and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) enables the sharing of tipline reports on online child sexual exploitation, which are disseminated to States/UTs through the national portal for prompt action.

AI-generated videos and images are increasingly being shared online, making it harder for people to tell what is real and what is fake. In recent weeks, several AI-generated images circulated on X, including altered images of public figures, highlighting growing concerns around misuse and online harm. Against this backdrop, India has updated its IT rules to regulate content created using artificial intelligence.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology announced changes to the IT Intermediary Rules on 10 February 2026. These new rules will come into effect from 20 February 2026.

Under the update, the government has clearly defined what counts as AI-generated content. This includes audio, images, and videos created or altered using AI tools that closely resemble real people, places, or events.

Basic photo or video editing, formatting, compression, subtitles, accessibility improvements, and training data use are not covered, as long as they do not mislead viewers.

If AI-generated content is used for illegal purposes, it will be treated the same way as real content under the law. Online platforms are allowed to remove such content using technical tools without losing their legal protection. Making these online social media platforms more accountable.

All Content that could mislead people or impersonate someone must carry clear labels showing it was made using AI.

Large social media platforms will also ask users to declare whether their uploads are AI-generated and take steps to verify this information. Platforms that fail to act against illegal AI content may face consequences for not following due diligence rules.

The amendments also shorten several compliance timelines, signalling a tougher stance on harmful online content. In some cases, platforms will now have just three hours to act on lawful orders or complaints, compared to 36 hours earlier. Other response deadlines have also been reduced, including from 15 days to seven days and from 24 hours to 12 hours, depending on the nature of the violation.

The updated rules also speed up response timelines for government orders and replace references to the Indian Penal Code with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Epic Games has addressed the recent online speculation surrounding a Fortnite account named “littlestjeff1”, which some believed was linked to Jeffrey Epstein. In a response on X, Epic Games confirmed that the account was simply the result of a username change by an existing Fortnite player.

The speculation began when the username “littlestjeff1” appeared in the Epstein files, specifically in emailed YouTube purchase receipts. This connection led online sleuths to dig deeper, and they eventually found the account on Fortnite. They also discovered an old Fortnite purchase receipt from 2019 that mentioned buying V-Bucks, although the sender and recipient details were redacted.

These findings fueled conspiracy theories suggesting that Epstein might still be alive, as the account appeared active on Fortnite. However, Epic Games clarified that the username change was a recent development and not connected to Epstein’s email addresses. The company explained that Fortnite trackers only show the current username and do not reveal previous ones, causing the confusion.

Epic Games also confirmed that they have no record of the email addresses mentioned in the public documents. They noted that, following the release of these documents, some people created new Fortnite accounts with similar usernames and email addresses.

Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, added in a separate post: “Someone’s been having fun renaming their Fortnite account, but it’s recent and not connected to the email addresses in the archive.”

Under this campaign, the National Highway commuters can report about unclean toilets at toll plazas by uploading a clear, geo-tagged, and time-stamped picture through the Rajmargyatra app. You are also required to provide basic details, including name, location, vehicle registration number, and mobile number, while submitting the picture.

The images will be assessed on a daily basis, and eligible claims under the scheme will be processed in a time-bound manner. Upon verification, the user who reported the unclean toilet will receive Rs 1000 FASTag credit. The reward will be credited to the linked vehicle registration number (VRN) within five days of validation. The reward is non-transferable and cannot be claimed in cash.

Do note that each National Highway toilet facility shall be eligible for reward consideration only once per day, irrespective of the number of reports. In cases where multiple reports are submitted for the same facility on the same day, only the first valid submission through the Rajmargyatra app will be considered. Also, the scheme applies exclusively to toilet facilities constructed, operated or maintained under NHAI’s jurisdiction.

This initiative by the Indian government will ensure continued public participation for cleanliness along the National Highways and help in improving cleanliness in toilet facilities.

As a part of an ongoing investigation into cybercrime that is linked to the algorithms and content recommendations on the platform, the Paris public prosecutor’s office confirmed that a search is being carried out at X’s Paris headquarters.

In a statement on X by the official account of the Parquet de Paris, the Paris public prosecutor’s office explained that the search is carried out by its cybercrime unit with the assistance of Europol and CyberGEND. The search is linked to an inquiry that was initiated in January 2025 due to complaints regarding how X’s algorithm functions as well as the content it provides to users. The prosecutor’s office also announced that it is now leaving X and would henceforth communicate on Instagram and LinkedIn.
