Reportedly, Apple has paid $750 million for this five-year deal.
Apple TV will deliver comprehensive coverage of Formula 1, with all practice, qualifying, Sprint sessions, and Grands Prix available to Apple TV subscribers. Select races and all practice sessions will also be available for free in the Apple TV app throughout the course of the season. In addition to broadcasting Formula 1 on Apple TV, Apple will amplify the sport across Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, and Apple Fitness+. Apple Sports, the free app for iPhone, will feature live updates for every qualifying, Sprint, and race for each Grand Prix across the season, with real-time leaderboards, season driver and constructor standings, Live Activities to follow on the Lock Screen, and a designated widget for the iPhone Home Screen.

It is revealed that F1’s own premier content offering- F1 TV Premium will continue to be available in the US via an Apple TV subscription only and will be free for those who subscribe.

Commenting on this partnership, Formula 1’s President and CEO, Stefano Domnicali, said, “This is an incredibly exciting partnership for Apple and the whole of Formula 1 that will ensure we can continue to maximize our growth potential in the U.S. with the right content and innovative distribution channels. We are no strangers to each other, having spent the past three years working together to create F1 The Movie, which has already proven to be a huge hit around the world. We have a shared vision to bring this amazing sport to our fans in the U.S. and entice new fans through live broadcasts, engaging content, and a year-round approach to keep them hooked. I want to thank Tim Cook, Eddy Cue, and the entire Apple team for their vision and passionate approach to delivering this partnership, and we are looking forward to the next five years together.”

Apple has announced that additional information, including production details, product enhancements, and all the ways fans will be able to enjoy F1 content across Apple products and services, will be announced in the coming months.

Companies creating video AI models frequently propose collaborations with Hollywood studios, but Netflix has now moved from discussions to actual implementation. During the company’s second-quarter earnings call, co-CEO Ted Sarandos announced that the platform featured “the very first GenAI final footage to appear on screen” in the Argentine show. The streaming giant employed AI technology to produce a building collapse scene in the Argentine sci-fi series “El Eternauta” (The Eternaut).

Netflix’s internal production team worked with Eyeline Studios, a production innovation group, to create a complex visual effects sequence of a building collapsing in Buenos Aires for the post-apocalyptic series based on the acclaimed 1957 Argentine comic book. According to Sarandos, using AI allowed the team to complete the sequence 10 times faster than traditional methods. “The cost of it just wouldn’t have been feasible for a show in that budget,” he noted during the earnings call. Netflix underlined that AI is a tool to enhance creativity rather than replace human workers, with Sarandos stating, “This is real people doing real work using better tools.” Beyond visual effects, Netflix is incorporating generative AI into a variety of platforms. Earlier this year, Netflix introduced an AI-powered search feature for select iOS users in Australia and New Zealand.

“El Eternauta” is currently available globally on Netflix, featuring six episodes of the sci-fi series. The show’s success reportedly contributed $34 million to the Argentine economy back in May 2025. Netflix revealed impressive second-quarter earnings of 2025, with sales of $11.08 billion, a 16% increase over last year, and a profit of $3.13 billion. The business stated that customers viewed over 95 billion hours of material in the first half of 2025, with non-English titles accounting for one-third of total viewership.

Back in 2022, Google had segmented its feedback insights based on countries and form factors, and now, the in-app ratings and reviews API have been extended and brought to TVs, enabling developers to prompt user feedback directly on the Google TV.

Here’s more about the update.

Google TV – In-App Ratings and Reviews API

With the ratings and reviews functionalities, Google TV users are able to view rating averages, browse user reviews, and even drop their ratings and reviews on an app’s store listing. For this, users can simply select ratings with the help of the remote control D-pad. Optional reviews can be given making use of Gboard’s on-screen voice input. Users can also type it in from their mobile phones too, by sending the mobile notification to initiate and complete the process via the mobile phone. Also, ratings and reviews for other form factors can be submitted directly from the mobile as well by selecting the device chip.

As mentioned, now developers can prompt users to submit ratings and reviews, and they can request it by identifying the optimal moments and preventing any interruptions while contents are ongoing. Developers can integrate this functionality by invoking requestReviewFlow() and obtain a ReviewInfo object to launch the review flow process. An addOnCompleteListener() should also be included. Just like what was pointed out earlier, developers must also be able to identify the right time to launch the prompt for users to submit their ratings and reviews.

Just to add, developers can identify the successful journeys of users such as completing a series or finishing a movie to add the prompt. Poor experiences such as playback errors and buffering should also be identified. By following the testing guide, developers will also be able to test the integration and on the Play Console, ratings by device type can be monitored.

The previous ads-free plan has now been converted into an add-on option, making customers pay more for an ads-free experience.

Here’s more about the news.

Amazon Prime Video – Ads to be Displayed from 17th June 2025

This update was informed to existing Amazon Prime Video subscribers via an email, sharing with them that the brand in order to continue investing more on contents, will start to display limited advertisements from the 17th of June 2025 onward, from next month. While Prime Video assures no increased charge for Prime membership, along with a promise that the ads will be comparatively lower than that displayed on televisions and other streaming platform, the long enjoyed ads-free experience is gone or in other words – will soon be gone.

Aligning with the above mentioned update, the brand has also made one more announcement – new add-on options will be made available from 17th June 2025 as well – which users can avail to continue having the ads-free experience. Yearly and monthly add-on options have been announced, at respective price points of INR 699 and INR 129.

Speaking more, this new update from Amazon Prime Video has invited a lot of dislikes from users, while a few have raised complaints regarding unfair consumer practices as existing Prime members (mostly yearly subscribers) have already once paid for the ads-free benefit and now the brand wants them to pay for it. Also to add, others have raised concerns too as already the content quality and catalogue offered on Prime Video has become bad and this sudden move will probably cause a drop in its user base.

This will enable users to easily launch the Live tab and access free TV channels from Google TV FreePlay library.

Read more about it below.

Google TV Remotes to Feature a ‘Free TV’ Button?

Back in early 2023, Google had started to widely roll out a Live tab on its Google TV devices that enables interested users to access free channels with ads on them without having to install any apps or pay for any subscriptions. As of now, including channels like Court TV, Hell’s Kitchen, BBC Earth, and Hallmark Movies, over 150 live TV channels can be accessed on the Google TV FreePlay library.

Last year in 2024, the market saw the arrival of a few Google TVs with a remote featuring a large ‘Free TV’ button on it, and notably the Onn 4K Pro from Walmart is one among these devices. By tapping on it, users can open the Live tab from where they can go ahead and watch free TV channels. So far only a few Google TVs have been launched with the ‘Free TV’ button, but as per new reports, Google has instructed original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to either have a ‘Free TV’ or ‘Live TV’ on all their upcoming Google TV models’ remotes starting from this month in April 2025. The request was raised by the brand early last year itself as per the report, so the OEMs seem to have received the needed time to make the necessary changes.

Also to add, in markets outside the United States where the brand’s FreePlay service isn’t available, the ‘Free TV’ or ‘Live TV’ button is asked to be mapped with live guides as an alternative solution.
