Federal Trade Commission preparing antitrust lawsuit against Facebook: Report

The Federal Trade Commission is preparing an antitrust lawsuit that it could bring against Facebook, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The commission has been investigating the social media giant’s business practices for more than a year over whether the company has harmed competition and could file a case by the end of the year, said the person on the condition of anonymity.

It should be mentioned here that the FTC opened the Facebook investigation last year. The probe is focused in part on whether Facebook’s past acquisitions, like its deals for Instagram as well as WhatsApp, infringed antitrust laws.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was also questioned last month by FTC officials.
